GROUND TRANSPORTATION: TAMPA
AIRPORT TO THE SIRATA RESORT
The Sirata does not have an airport shuttle.
However, I have made the trip from my home to the airport many
times and I can make some recommendations about (1) a taxi, (2) the cheapest
way, (3) an easier way, and a (4) car rental and (5) there are other shuttles
you can quickly find with an online search.
CAUTION:
Please remember that the Republican Convention in Tampa will be right
around the corner, and the airport/ground transportation will be busy.
I would suggest you make reservations.
CHOICE #1: Taxi
The rate is $2.25 cents a mile, plus a $2 base charge (plus tip).
There are 27 miles between the airport and the Sirata.
A cab is an expensive choice.
CHOICE #2: Super Shuttle
Cost is $27 per person (plus tip). The shuttle is a 10-person van and will make
the trip with only one passenger when necessary.
They say the wait is generally 30 minutes, though I understand that
sometimes it is as long as an hour.
The length of the trip depends on the number of stops before the Sirata (one of
the most distant from the airport).

CHOICE #3: ActionSedans
My personal favorite!
I have used this company many times.
Dependable and clean, and a whole lot more comfortable and personal.
Not a van full of strangers, but instead a little bit of luxury at a
bargain price! Michelle has
discounted her fare for us to $58 one way for up to four people, not each!
(plus tip). If you choose
ActionSedans, make a telephone reservation and don't use the web site.

CHOICE #4: Renting a car
Familiar “brand names” are available at the Tampa Airport (TPA). Click on this

“ground transportation” phrase at the top.

There is an Avis car rental with the same address as the Sirata.
If you want a car during the reunion but prefer not to rent one at the
airport, you might want to get in touch with those folks.
